Title: Hardball: Rays threaten to block redevelopment of Tropicana Field
Story: The Tampa Bay Rays officials have told the St. Petersburg city council that they will block any attempts to develop Tropicana Field while they are locked into their contract. Tensions have been high since Rays owner Stu Sternberg announced the idea to possibly split time between Montreal and Tampa Bay.

Title: Hillsborough transit meeting goes off the rails during quarrel over contracts

Story: Two Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority council members couldn’t settle differences during a meeting on transit, which led to one storming out of the room. Their argument was over the awarding of contracts to a company whose CEO is under investigation. This argument indicates that there are fundamental differences which need to be resolved before they can move on.
What: The council could not pass a contract to better Hillsborough County’s transit
Who: Hillsborough County residents, the company who is set to get the contract, the council, bus drivers, people who use the public transportation, surrounding areas’ transportation councils

Title: Tampa City Council member uses anti-Semitic slur
Story: A Tampa city council member used an anti-Semitic slur when talking of high prices. He quickly retracted his statement, but the damage had been done. Fellow city council members, a few of whom are Jewish themselves, say that they hope he can learn from this. His slip up was said directly to a reporter, so he wasn’t going to get off easy.
What: A council member said a slur, making a lot of people look bad
Who: Tampa residents, the council member who said it, his friends and family, the city council, Jewish city council members, the Tampa police department (he is a retired officer), the Jewish community.


Title: Tampa Bay burglars dressed up like construction workers, stole $1 million in valuables, deputies say


Story: A burglary ring was busted by a Pasco county woman whose home had been robbed recently. She alerted authorities about a “shady” glass company that had come to do work at her home. When deputies searched the homes of some of the accused, they said it was like being in a jewelry store.
What: People stole a lot stuff from people
Who:  Police, People who got stolen from, the robbers, real construction workers, jewelry stores, pawn shops, City of Tampa residents


Title: Immaturity Costing UF
Story: UF’s young age and lack of experience is really killing them. After their loss to Baylor, Mike White heaped great praise on Baylor’s talent while emphasizing our need to improve. Although our team is very talented, we have been playing terribly, and Mike White needs to be fired.
What: UF is playing horribly in basketball
Who: UF Team, students, and fans, City of Gainesville, Mike White, other UF coaches, SEC, Me, sports bettors who bet for Florida.
