My Entrepreneurship Story

The first time I was exposed to the world of entrepreneurship was when I began to "flip" things on eBay at the age of about 16 or 17. I would (and still do) go to thrift stores and garage sales and buy things to resell. I have gone through periods of doing it full time, and I have completely stopped doing it for months at a time. It's a great "job" because I can put it down and pick it up whenever I want to, and I get to learn a lot about brands and the like. Just recently, I went to visit the Waldo Flea/Farmer's Market to buy some delicious salsa from Ms. Martha. I was walking around with my girlfriend just perusing the booths, and I found a gentleman selling video games. I looked through his games, pulled out a few GameCube Zelda's and other GameCube games, which I bought for $5 a piece. Because of my experience reselling, I knew I would make good money. Below is how I did:
This number also includes a baseball glove I bought for $5, as well. In total, I grossed around $230, just because I had an eye out. I have always enjoyed making money, and this was an easy way for a high school kid to make some.

The reasons I enrolled in this class is twofold:
1. This class is a business elective.
2. I may want to be an entrepreneur in the future.

In this class, I hope to be able to see how to do things like scale businesses, identify needs, and to make money.

  1. Michael,
I find it interesting how you buy the goods for so cheap and are able to make a pretty large profit off it. This shows that by having an eye out for things that might be worthless to someone, a different person may be willing to pay a lot of money for. This is a great hobby to have especially during college because you can focus on your school work while making some money on the side. Great work!
