My Entrepreneurship Story
The first time I was exposed to the world of entrepreneurship was when I began to "flip" things on eBay at the age of about 16 or 17. I would (and still do) go to thrift stores and garage sales and buy things to resell. I have gone through periods of doing it full time, and I have completely stopped doing it for months at a time. It's a great "job" because I can put it down and pick it up whenever I want to, and I get to learn a lot about brands and the like. Just recently, I went to visit the Waldo Flea/Farmer's Market to buy some delicious salsa from Ms. Martha. I was walking around with my girlfriend just perusing the booths, and I found a gentleman selling video games. I looked through his games, pulled out a few GameCube Zelda's and other GameCube games, which I bought for $5 a piece. Because of my experience reselling, I knew I would make good money. Below is how I did:
This number also includes a baseball glove I bought for $5, as well. In total, I grossed around $230, just because I had an eye out. I have always enjoyed making money, and this was an easy way for a high school kid to make some.
The reasons I enrolled in this class is twofold:
1. This class is a business elective.
2. I may want to be an entrepreneur in the future.
In this class, I hope to be able to see how to do things like scale businesses, identify needs, and to make money.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting how you buy the goods for so cheap and are able to make a pretty large profit off it. This shows that by having an eye out for things that might be worthless to someone, a different person may be willing to pay a lot of money for. This is a great hobby to have especially during college because you can focus on your school work while making some money on the side. Great work!
