16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?
1) Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique. What is it about you, exactly, that makes you different? Write this up in a detailed list.
1. I always have a positive attitude.
2. I am always punctual.
3. I make sure to have a good relationship with everyone I am involved with, I make people feel welcomed.
4. I am funny.
5. I am a hard worker; I will make sure that I always complete my tasks.
2) Interview the five people who know you the best. Ask them what they think makes you different -- remember, focus on your knowledge, skills, abilities, emotions -- in other words, your human capital.
Interview 1: This interview was with my roommate Cole. Cole said that I always have a smile on my face, and that I make it a priority to make sure others do too.
Interview 2: This interview was with my mom. She said that I am a sweet boy, and that I make sure that no man gets left behind.
Interview 3: This interview was with my friend Will. He said that I am a joker, and that my laugh is contagious.
Interview 4: This interview was with my roommate Connor. Connor said that even though I am terrible at video games, I try my best and work hard at everything I do.
Interview 5: This interview was with my girlfriend Julia. She said that I am loving, and that I am always able to bring a smile to anyone's face. She also added that I am sometimes too confident in myself, but whatever.

3) Reflect on the differences. How do you see yourself, and how do others see you? Are there differences in how you assess yourself compared to others? What do you think causes these differences? Do you think your interviewees are correct about you? Finally, going back to your list from part 1, would you make any corrections to the list? How?
I don't think that the difference between how I see myself and how others see me is that big. I feel that I am able to see myself relatively objectively, which is why I can adapt when I need to. I think that I tend to only see the good in people, so my interviewers tried to see the good in me. I would not go back and make any changes, because nothing that was said contradicts what I said at all.

Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteThe qualities that you possess are good to have when taking on a startup business. Having a positive attitude and outlook are great qualities to have when growing sales and asking for investor capital. Being confident gives you the ability to take no graciously and continue to move forward with your agenda. I think it is important to keep these qualities in mind when we go after things in life, as these are what sets us apart and makes us unique.
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteI think being punctual is a good trait to have because it is difficult for people to always be on time place. I often times find it difficult to be punctual to events because I find myself wrapped up in other things. I think you possess many of the qualities that are necessary to run a successful business. For example, it is important to have good relationships with the people that work with you because then there is a more positive work environment which will mostly likely lead to better results.
