30A – Final Reflection

1) Read through your posts from this semester. Recall all of the experiences you've had a long the way -- the highs, the lows -- the fun moments, and the moments of drudgery, and even the moments of dread.
I just went through a roller coaster of emotions reading through my posts for sure.

2) What sticks out to you as the most formative experience? The experience that you'll remember years later? What was your most joyous experience? What experience are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing?
I would have to say getting out there and finding people to interview was my most formative experience. I will always remember the absurd jokes my friends and I would add to our comments on each others' posts. My most joyous experience was probably getting an A. I am most proud of getting an A.
3) At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
I would say that I do see myself as an entrepreneur. I have run my own business before, but this class has given me some tools to be able to analyze and scale my business. I am almost to the entrepreneurial mindset.
4) What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?
I think that the best thing for students who plan to become entrepreneurs would be to take this class to get a foundation for your future. To someone who wants to perform well in this class, I would tell them to get ahead. Make sure that you go to in person lectures to make it easier for cupcakes. To foster the entrepreneurial mindset, you must eat, sleep, breathe, and live the entrepreneurial mindset. By doing this, you can make billions.

  1. Hi Michael,
I can really relate to your final reflection, and how much these experiences have given me a business foundation. I also think that doing interviews throughout the class pushed me to learn a lot of new things that I wouldn't have known before. I think it's really cool that you've run your own business in the past, and I wish you luck on your future ventures!

  2. Hi Michael,
The interviews were quite challenging at first, but I agree that they did help me to become more formative with my business idea. This class was definitely a unique experience for me so far academically, as it left much of the work for the course up to creativity and innovation, which is what entrepreneurship is all about. I have enjoyed working with you all this semester, and I wish you the best moving forward with your venture concept and your degree! Darren

  3. Hey M I C H A E L, although you did not imply that you cried when reading over your posts, that's what I had in my mind when I read "rollercoaster of emotions." As a man, it's OK to cry sometimes over a topic such as this one. I too enjoyed really getting out there and interviewing all the people of Gainesville. Your comment about getting an "A" is a little off-putting as not everyone will receive one in this course. Nice job hurting someone's feelings. I also liked your advice for someone taking this class in the future, they should listen to someone that has run a multi dollar business before, probably giving old books to their friends or something. Good job!

  4. Hiya Mic-hael,

Wow, what a "roller coaster of emotions." What surprised me the most about this post was that roller coaster is two words! My whole life is a lie! Anyways, great job on your blog post and your blog throughout the semester. I have had such a pleasure reading your blogs. I honestly might shed a tear that I will not be able to read these every week. Your journey through principles of entrepreneurship has been an amazing one, and I cannot wait to see what you create in the future.
